Nanette is honored and pleased to present her first-ever published book:
Defining Truth: Definition Series – Volume 1 (AuthorHouse, August 2019).
The first memoir in a series depicting the true story of a woman’s personal and literal prison, Defining Truth is a genuine and heartfelt account of the author’s search for truth, hope and promise of a devoted God while incarcerated within a Women’s State Prison. Often compared as the Christian version of “Orange Is the New Black” (Random House Publishing, 2008), Defining Truth portrays the detailed and graphic accounts of hard-core prison life; however the pain, suffering and fear are far outweighed by the comfort, love and faithfulness of a loving Father.
(Excerpt): “But this isn’t my stuff! I’m not going to get into trouble for this!” I yelled back at her, not one bit deterred by her loud aggressive approach, and still throwing things on the floor. “Look here bi . . .! Obviously, you don’t understand how it works around here. You stupid enough to leave your box unlocked, you deserve to get hit up! Now put everything back in that box! Do it now!” she shrieked.”

As a contributing author, Nanette provides one of her many stories in “Life Changing Miracles,” published in late 2017. In this compilation book, she describes in detail the true story of how God literally provided a vision to her of “Walking on the Water” in a place no one could ever imagine. Today the journey that God began in her so many years ago, has placed her on a road of love, forgiveness and ministry for the broken-hearted, as the result of that vision.
In this collection, compiled by James S. Bell (Bethany House Publishers, Sept. 2017) ordinary people share stories of how God has used miracles to change their lives. They tell how God’s display of power helped them overcome weakness, sin, and unbelief. These accounts will bring you hope that you aren’t defined by your past.
(Excerpt) “Taking my usual afternoon walk on the prison “walk-jog” path that day, attempting to escape the relentless cursing, hostility, and often depressive attitudes of the other inmates, I desperately cried out, “I don’t understand, God! What do you want from me? Either take me from this world, or do something with me!”
The answer that followed will astound you . . . and bless you at the same time. It is the heartbreaking account of a shamed and broken woman who didn’t understand that a loving God could ever forgive, or possibly want her as His child.

Ms. Friend is also a published contributor in a Christian based 365-day devotional, Stories of Faith and Courage from Prison by Connie S. Cameron & Jeffrey Peck (AMG Publishers, 2012), now in its 2nd printing after selling over 5,000 copies. Within five* different accounts, she portrays many of the blessings, answers to prayer, as well as the hope and comfort only a faithful God can provide.
“This book puts a human face on the two and a half million inmates in the United States. Stories of Faith and Courage from Prison is a powerful devotional that will capture your heart, ignite your passion, and require a choice. . .God could use this book to change the heart of a nation and bring about repentance, forgiveness, reconciliation and redemption.” Carol Kent, Speaker & Author
