Nanette T. Friend (Miller)

The author of the recently released “Defining Truth” – Definition Series, Vol.1 (AuthorHouse, August 2019), Nanette shares her true story of the genuine and heartfelt account of her search for truth, hope and promise of a devoted God while incarcerated within a Women’s State Prison. Often compared as the Christian version of “Orange Is the New Black” (Random House Publishing, 2008); detailed and graphic accounts of hard-core prison life are portrayed; while the pain, suffering and fear is far outweighed by the comfort, love and faithfulness of a loving Father.

A 2010 Honors Graduate of Central Ohio Technical College with an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Human Services, to include advanced courses of Composition I and II, Psychology, Chemical Dependency I & II, Effective Communications and Cultural Diversity, Ms. Friend lives in Reynoldsburg, Ohio with her husband, Daniel (Miller) and their nephew, M.C.

A mother of four children, and grandmother to 14, Nanette has been interviewed on Christian Television, and has been an invited speaker to numerous Christian engagements and events. A former inspirational columnist with four distinctive newspapers from 2011 to 2012, she currently volunteers and often times teaches a women’s Bible study at a local county jail. She previously served as a four-year board member with Licking County Jail Ministries (LCJM) from 2012 through 2015, of which she was editor for the LCJM quarterly newsletter distributed to almost 800 members.

A former mentor for teen girls ages 13-17 in a juvenile court-ordered 13-week program entitled “Rites of Passage,” Ms. Friend has also served as manager for a Christian based youth center “The Rock,” always encouraging and bringing the Good News to many at-risk teenagers. A volunteer mentor to several women residents of a drug-rehabilitation location “The Courage House,” as well as the local women’s shelter, Nanette continues to stay in touch and work on a regular basis with many of the women. A member of her church, she is involved in the out-reach program of transporting, encouraging and praying with several previous inmates who attend church on a regular basis. Previously featured in the local newspaper for her role in a speaking ministry she helped co-found Set Free in Him Ministries, her name and testimony is well known within the community.

Ms. Friend is also a published Contributor to a Christian based 365-day devotional, Stories of Faith and Courage from Prison by Connie S. Cameron & Jeffrey Peck (AMG Publishers, 2012), as well as the book “Life Changing Miracles,” (Bethany House, Sept. 2017). Within the pages of these manuscripts, Nanette portrays insight into her true story of the many blessings, miracles and redemption that only a faithful God can provide – in a place no one could ever imagine.

Nanette openly shares her testimony of God’s infinite grace, forgiveness and unconditional love. Ms. Friend’s riveting testament of a once lost and desperate woman portrays the ultimate illustration that:

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”  Philippians 4:13
